FIRST PHASE OF THE FRAMEWORK
The Government have made their announcement that the first phase roll out of the Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework will relate to DBS, Right to Work and Right to Rent checks.
From April 6th 2022, Digital Identity Providers (IDPs) and Identity Document Validation Technology (IDVT) providers will no longer be able to use the emergency Coronavirus legislation as a statutory excuse. These were always temporary.
This will now be replaced with longer term provisions, from April 6th 2022, requiring specific certification from an accredited body to continue these services.
WHAT DOES THIS UPDATE MEAN FOR MY BUSINESS?
This new legislation means that IDPs and IDVTs will need to have successfully completed certification with an accredited body before or on April 6th 2022 otherwise they will face service interruption or they won't be eligible to provide these services for the purposes of DBS, Right to Work and Right to Rent checks.
The audit guidance from the Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework suggests completion of the certification will take 20 - 35 days.
Any organisations providing ID or ID verification services in these areas need to act fast.
